Associate Professor in the Department of Global and Intercultural Studies at Miami University of Ohio

Jennifer CohenJennifer Cohen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Global and Intercultural Studies at Miami University of Ohio and a researcher in the medical school at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. She is PI of a survey and field-based study with 4,500 Direct Support Professionals and is a Senior Advisor for the Disability Employer Practices Rehabilitation Research and Training Center at Rutgers University.

Her research focuses on work-related health and health systems. It has illuminated how employment practices impact not only workers but also their households, illustrating a reciprocal relationship with effects on mental health and economic implications.

She has been a professor for over a decade and was formerly a data analyst at the World Bank. She earned her PhD and MA in Economics at the University of Massachusetts, an MA in political science at the University of Arizona, and a BS in sociology and geography at Florida State University. She has published in Preventive Medicine, the Journal of Occupational Rehabilitation, AIDS, Global Public Health, Gender, Work & Organization, Feminist Economics, Public Health Ethics, and Plos One and given talks for the Department of Homeland Security, the World Health Organization, and in myriad academic conferences.
